Overseas workshops and training courses, postings/exchanges/secondments were attended by NZDF in Canada, China, France, United Kingdom, and United Nations Headquarters.
New Acquisitions:
New acquisitions in 2005-2006 included: anti-armour Javelin missiles from Lockheed Martin; eight NH90 helicopters to replace the Iroquois helicopters; a Very Low Level Air Defence System Cueing System costing $13.7 million plus gst; two new Navy patrol vessels; $14 million in Special Operations equipment (items unknown); a range of Engineering Equipment, Direct Fire Support Weapon, Improvised Explosive Device Disposal are in the acquisition phase. By far the single largest acquisition was a new Ministry of Defence, NZDF and Special Intelligence Service (SIS) headquarters in early 2007. It is estimated that this building cost $41million.
